Tails of the North Inc. Dog Rescue

Writing the next chapter in rescue dogs lives since 2022.

Tails of the North Inc. is a foster-based registered charitable organization, dedicated to helping rescue dogs find their forever homes.

All dogs at Tails of the North Inc. Dog Rescue need a second chance. They have been abused, abandoned, lost and given up.

They love you unconditionally. Will you love them the same?

Adopting is one of the best things you can do.

When you adopt, you are not just giving a deserving dog a home. You are also reducing the demand for puppy mills and other industrial-scale breeding operations that put profit before animal welfare. Please join us on our journey to write the next chapter in rescue dogs lives.

Meet Our Available Dogs

  • Meet Dolly!

She is a 2-years old Bull terrier, Lab mix.

With her adorable polka-dot coat (peep the eyebrow), bright eyes and big goofy grin, Dolly is just as fun and fabulous as she looks! She is a whole vibe — equal parts playful goofball, sassy queen and snuggly sweetheart.

Dolly came to us as a stray from City of Hamilton Animal Services, and ever since, she has been dazzling everyone she meets with her sparkly personality. She has a heart of gold and a flair for fun, whether she is zooming around the yard, chasing her favourite toy or striking a pose with her signature head tilt.

Dolly is curious, clever and crazy about treats, which makes training a breeze. This girl is all about learning new tricks if snacks are involved!

She is already crate-trained, house-trained and has impeccable toy taste (spoiler: she loves ALL of them). Dolly is fantastic with kids and loves respectful dog friends. Her energy is just right — enough for playtime and adventures, but she is also a pro at couch cuddles and lazy afternoon naps.

If you're looking for a four-legged best friend who brings the laughs, gives the best kisses and makes every day feel like a party, Dolly is your girl. She has the looks, charm and so much love to give, all she’s missing is her forever family.

Ready to meet your new partner in fun?

  • Meet Bauer!

He is a 5-years old Miniature Goldendoodle.

Bauer came to us as a local owner surrender and has a heart as soft as his curls. He is the kind of pup who thrives on connection, play and loyalty—and he is looking for someone who can offer him the same in return.

This handsome guy loves being around other dogs and is even cool with cats! He is an active little adventurer who lights up for walks, car rides and playtime. Whether it is a romp in the yard, a walk around the block, Bauer is always ready to go.

But Bauer’s past has left its mark. Having been surrendered, he is understandably cautious and needs time—and patience—to trust. He shows some fear-based reactivity. What he is really asking for is reassurance: that his next family will not give up on him.

    Bauer will do best with:
    - A calm, confident adopter who understands dog behaviour
    - A home committed to building trust and routine
    - Someone who is willing to work through his fear reactivity with love and positive reinforcement
    - Bonus if there is another friendly dog to show him the ropes!

Once Bauer knows you are his person, he will be your ride-or-die. Loyal, playful and deeply affectionate, he just needs a stable home and someone who sees the incredible dog he is.

Is Bauer your loyal sidekick in the making?!

  • Meet Lola!

She is a 2-years old American Bulldog, Lab, Hound mix.

The full package: Affectionate, playful and just a little quirky in the most lovable way. Lola came to us from City of Hamilton Animal Services after being found as a stray, and ever since, she has been turning heads and winning hearts with her wiggly tail, gentle eyes and irresistible charm.

Lola loves people, all people, and gives the kind of hugs that instantly melt stress away. She is also great with cats, which is a rare gem! With other dogs, she is a bit more selective and prefers calm, well-mannered friends. In fact, she is happiest as the one and only pup, soaking up all the attention (and belly rubs) for herself. She has so much love to give and she would love to give it all to you, we cannot say we blame her!

She walks beautifully on leash most of the time, but we will be honest: Lola can get vocal and overstimulated when she sees other dogs out and about. She is working on it and will thrive with someone who is patient, willing to continue training and understands that she sometimes just needs a little help staying calm. She is already house-trained, crate-trained and knows her basic commands like “sit” and “wait.” Treats? Yes, please! This girl is eager to please and super smart when food is involved.

Lola would shine in a home that enjoys daily walks, understands the importance of structure and loves winding down together at the end of the day. If you are looking for a snuggly, goofy, loyal companion who will stick by your side and make you laugh daily, Lola just might be your perfect match.
